What is the  MMR-PAC?

MMR-PAC is an organization set up under the Maryland State Board of Elections – Campaign Finance rules that allow people who share common interests to provide financial support to those candidates whose views align with those of the MMR-PAC and ABATE of Maryland, Inc., its sponsoring organization.

MMR-PAC provides information on candidates running for State office, or political parties, based solely on motorcycling issues, and operates under the Maryland election laws, set by the Maryland State Board of Elections.

I thought ABATE did this!

No, a 501( c )(4) social welfare organization, such as ABATE of Maryland, Inc.,  cannot make direct monetary contributions to political candidate campaigns in Maryland.

However, ABATE can engage in unlimited direct and grassroots lobbying if the activities are relevant and further the organization's exempt social welfare purpose. While ABATE lobbying can be unlimited, a 501(c)(4) cannot have political campaign intervention (supporting or opposing candidates) as its primary activity. This is why ABATE of Maryland, Inc., and the Maryland Motorcycle Riders Political Action Committee have teamed together to provide both lobbying and campaign support activities.

What can YOU do to help?

We invite you to support the MMR-PAC in backing state candidates who champion motorcycling issues. Fully compliant with Maryland campaign finance laws, MMR-PAC allows riders to pool their resources and elect leaders who stand up for our community.
