ABATE of Maryland, Inc. is committed to helping the biker community keep our roads safe for ALL vehicles, not just motorcycles. Please feel free to use this contact information for the Maryland Department of Transportation, State Highway Administration to report ALL highway emergencies in Maryland (state, county and local roads) that do not require police assistance. State Highway has agreed to take the calls and pass them on to the appropriate personnel.

ABATE of Maryland, Inc., has played a continuous and active role in motorcycle related legislation in Annapolis since 1974. The involvement of our members covers all aspects of motorcycling. Our interests include, but are not limited to, mandatory motorcycle helmet laws, developing the original Maryland motorcycle safety program, motorcycle insurance, parking, tolls, right-of-way laws, other transportation issues as well as anything else that may have an effect on motorcycling.
Our participation continues to be successful due to the dedication and strength of our grass roots membership participation. It also establishes a formal presence in the campaign and election process. This participation influences the support of elected officials, those running for office and others that show a positive attitude towards motorcyclists and our issues.
On October 10, 2001 ABATE of Maryland, Inc. established a State Political Action Committee called Maryland Motorcycle Riders PAC (MMR-PAC) to fulfill the goal of supporting political events throughout the State. Through the viability and successful activity of the Maryland Motorcycle Riders PAC in the political process, we continue to protect the rights and safety of all motorcyclists.

If your new car, light truck, or motorcycle, spends more time in the repair shop than on the road, you know you have a problem.
In most cases, the manufacturer's warranty that comes with your car will provide the coverage you need to have your car repaired at no cost to you. Your warranty will tell you what parts and systems of your car are covered and for how long. If you need repairs, you must have them done by a dealer, although you do not have to use the same dealer who sold you your car.
In some cases, however, the dealer may be unable to fix your car's problem. If that is the case, you may have a lemon.
Maryland's Lemon Law applies to new or leased motor vehicles (including cars, light trucks and motorcycles), registered in Maryland, that are less than 24 months old and have been driven less than 18,000 miles. The law provides for consumers whose cars meet certain criteria to receive a refund or a replacement vehicle if repair attempts have failed to correct a problem, and the problem substantially impairs the use and market value of the vehicle.
Not all new cars with problems qualify as lemons, but if yours does, you must take action quickly to receive relief under the law.
